Natural cultivation

The new leaves and the grown bancha tea leaves (parent leaves) are harvested together to make Oyako Bancha tea.

Tea is usually harvested several times a year, but Asahi-ya only harvests once a year and devote all of its energy to this "Oyako Hoji" tea farm.

With natural cultivation, most of the nutrients come from photosynthesis by the tea plants themselves, so even though this roasted tea is grown naturally, it still has plenty of nutrients, and with the added effect of being roasted over a wood fire, it has a rich, full-bodied flavor.

We produce "Oyako Houji", a roasted tea grown naturally without pesticides, in the Yamato Plateau in Nara City, Nara Prefecture.

The secret to the deliciousness of Oyako Hoji is this, and I want to tell you about it loud and clear. We roast it over a firewood fire. It's completely different from using gas or electricity as a heat source. We roast it slowly over a fire in an iron pot. It takes time and effort, but the aroma is incomparable. The aroma when you open the bag or when you brew tea... please give it a try!

* This roasted tea is made using all the new shoots, parent leaves and stems. (The whole plant contains the most delicious parts of the tea!) * No pesticides or fertilizers are used during the cultivation period. We also don't use herbicides. (Because we want to make tea that we can drink with peace of mind.) * Roasted over a wood fire. (Completely done by hand, taking time and effort. Excellent aroma.) * A tea with a good balance between yin and yang. (We think that anyone, from babies to the elderly, can enjoy it.)
