A rare type of Kabusecha (coarse tea)
Kabusecha is a semi-premium sencha that is grown under cover for about a week, which is shorter than the gyokuro period.
It is available at the same price as other Sencha teas in the Yutaka series.
Sawa's husband, Yutaka Fukui of Tahara Natural Farm, used to grow tea using conventional farming methods, but around 2015 he began growing some tea without any pesticides as a condition for their marriage.
The challenge is being undertaken with three types of tea: Fukamushicha, Sakimidori (a variety), and Kabusecha.
They are a husband and wife team, and they use organic fertilizer in a different way to Tahara Natural Farm, which grows vegetables and tea using natural farming methods.
Yutaka has been specializing in tea cultivation for many years, and with his experience, he seems to enjoy cultivating his favorite variety, "Sakimidori," choosing fertilizer types, and arranging deep steaming and kabuse tea. Since he is originally a tea cultivation professional, the price is low, but the quality is high. In 2020, the price of tea grown using conventional farming methods was hit hard, and we hope that in the future, he will shift to pesticide-free tea cultivation.
